The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE)  and the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs (GACLA) in partnership with the Center for Schools and Communities invite you to attend the Pennsylvania Summit on Educational Excellence for Latino Students, “Roots for Change: Strengthening Pennsylvania’s Future – Latino Students in the Era of Globalization”  to be held on December 3rd at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, Lancaster, PA.

This event will provide the opportunity for educators, guidance counselors, administrators, policy makers, parents and community-based agency staff, and those who work for and on behalf of Latino students to engage in dialogues to proactively address the needs of our Latino students. Workshops and panel discussions will focus on the following issues of critical interest:

• Achievement Gap: Early Childhood, K – 12, Post-secondary Education
• College Readiness and Higher Education
• Data, Research and Policy
• ESOL, Bilingual and Multicultural Education
• Parental Involvement and Community Engagement
• Retention, Dropout Prevention and Resiliency/Wellness
• Career Education and Workforce Development
• Global Issues and International Education
